On location with Nate Burleson, the Watch magazine crew, and photographer David Needleman, Franklin Lakes, NJ
Team Building W HEN I ARRIVED AT OUR COVER SHOOT WITH CBS’s morning show and The NFL Today ’s Nate Burleson a few months ago, he and photographer David Needleman were deep in conversation— and deep in Burleson’s impressive closet. I watched as David and Nate selected the perfect shirts, jackets, shoes, and hats (custom made by Travis Austin), creating sartorial combinations that few of us could ever hope to duplicate. The two men had never met before, yet they worked together as if they’d known each other for years. As David started shooting and Nate moved into various poses—to a great playlist with everything fromMichael Jackson to Kylie Minogue—we saw one amazing image after another appear on the Digitech screen. It was the creative equivalent of watching one of the football players Nate covers every fall Sunday catch a perfectly thrown spiral from his quarterback. There’s nothing like finding perfect teammates, whether it’s on the field, among your friends and family, or this fall with the arrival of CSI: Vegas . Diehard fans will be excited to see original cast members Jorja Fox, William Petersen, and Wallace Langham (among others) return to the team of forensic investigators. They will be joined by the incredible Paula Newsome, Mandeep Dhillon, Matt Lauria, and Mel Rodriguez. We sat down with our other cover subjects, the three remarkable women of CSI , to hear what lies ahead for them and their co-stars this season.
If you’re looking for even more examples of great teams (I’m a long-suffering Eagles fan, so count me in), you will love Ghosts , a hilarious new comedy about a young couple who inherit a very old house and all the souls of the home’s past residents who’ve never moved out. And could there be any greater example of the impor- tance of teamwork than Survivor ? Back for its 41st season, the real- ity competition feels as exciting as ever, thanks to host Jeff Probst and a fresh crop of eager contestants. Our Watch team (we’re small, but we get the job done—are you listening, Eagles?) welcomes you to this fall issue. Enjoy!
