W HEN I JOINED NCIS playing a forensic scientist, I real- ized: There’s just so much science I don’t know! There’s not much time in the fast-paced world of TV to do a deep dive into topics. When Gillian Jacobs offered me a chance to join the podcast, it was an amazing way to satisfy my curi- osity. In our podcast we interview profes- sional scientists and engineers. I get so nervous and I want to give a great interview, but they know so much more than I do that sometimes I hardly know where to begin. But our producer Tomeka Weatherspoon does amazing research and prep work. I loved talking to [actor] Jack Black and Neil Siegel about their mom, Judith Love Cohen. She was an aerospace engineer who worked on the Apollo program, and their memories of her and her work really touched me. During our “Story Time” segment, we talk about scientists in history. If they were alive today, my ultimate dream guests for that seg- ment would be Charles Drew, the

bank, or Ada Lovelace, who was con- sidered the first computer program- mer. For anyone thinking of starting their own podcast, my advice is: Do it. It’s a lot of work, but it is so worth it. The more I learn, the more I want to know.
