W HEN WE ASKED THIS MONTH’S COVER Home Alone , and Elf were at the top of their lists. My first thought: OK, excellent choices. And Elf is a great movie, but it’s pretty recent to be considered one of the “greatest.” My second thought: Wait. When did Elf come out? And then my third, after checking IMDb and discovering that it was released almost 20 years ago: Yikes . I’m old. I say this because my favorite holiday movies are really old: White Christmas and the “Sisters” song. Holiday with Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant. It’s a Wonderful Life with that lingering, romantic moment between Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed shar- ing the telephone. And, much more recent (at least in comparison), Trading Places . All of it. subjects, Young Sheldon ’s Iain Armitage, Montana Jordan, and Raegan Revord, to name their all- time greatest holiday movies, A Christmas Story , No matter what you choose to watch, celebrate, and, of course, eat during this merry season, we have you covered.
